The core team at ficonTEC consists of engineers from the specialist fields of optics, electrical engineering, informatics and mechanical engineering. These developers are supported by technicians with a variety of skills.

• 2001: The firm of ficonTEC GmbH is founded in 2001 by Matthias Trinker, Felix Frischkorn and Torsten Vahrenkamp in Emden.
• 2002: The company headquarters with development, production and administration is moved to Bremen in the Bremer Innovations- und Technologiezentrum (BITZ).
• 2002: Foundation of the subsidiary ficonTEC Inc. in the USA  
• 2005: The office and production space in the technology park is doubled
• 2006: ficonTEC takes over the product segment laser welding and auto alignment systems from Newport Corporation, Irvine, CA.
• 2006: One more expansion of the office space at the Bremen location
